Practice Profile

The practice was first established in Walkden in 1979 and moved to the present premises in 1992. The aim of the practice has always been to provide excellent modern facilities and expertise for the treatment of companion animals. Now in addition to providing this primary care, the practice offers a referral service to other veterinary surgeons in the North of England, the Midlands and North Wales for the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic and neurology cases.

In order to do this, the veterinary surgeons and nursing staff are strongly committed to providing the very best healthcare for our patients in a caring, compassionate manner. The facilities and professional training are constantly being updated to allow us to maintain this excellent standard of care.

Mr Collinson was awarded the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics in 1988, this is a post-graduate qualification which recognizes experience and expertise in this important discipline of veterinary practice. He has recently jointly edited and contributed to the British Small Animal Veterinary Association’s “Manual of Small Animal Arthrology”, the first book to be produced specifically on the subject of joint disease.

The veterinary surgeons in the practice are members of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and the nursing staff members of the British Veterinary Nursing Association.
